From the Fun Account to Full-Time Focus

For most of my trading life, I had what I called my “fun account.” Whenever we needed a few hundred or a couple thousand dollars — a home repair, a vacation, something fun — I’d sell a put or a call and the cash would be there in days. My wife loved the results… but she never cared to learn about the process.

In 2023, with retirement getting closer, I realized I didn’t just want a “good” retirement — I wanted a comfortable one. I didn’t want to be living on a fixed income, worried about every dollar.

Funny enough, my turning point came from a mistake: I meant to buy a put… but accidentally sold one instead. That trade made me more than I expected — and it hit me: “Why am I not doing this full time?”
